In Fall 2009, I became a PhD candidate in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). I joined the Parallel Programming Laboratory and actively conduct research in parallel and scientific computing. You can learn about my current and past research on my Research page.
Before coming to UIUC, I completed my B.S. in Computer Science and B.E. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware between 2006-2009. As an undergrad, I participated in a number of activities including managing a competitive Indian dance team, mentoring college freshmen, and participating in undergraduate research. I also attended the University of Melbourne in Winter 2009 through a study abroad in Australia.
I spent Fall 2005 (my first semester of college) as a Biomedical Engineer at Boston University. The required "Engineering Computation with C++" course introduced me to computer science and convinced me to persue my double major in chemical engineering and computer science after I transferred to the University of Delaware.
In my (rare) free time I enjoy number of outdoor activities including skiing, ice-skating, hiking, mountain biking, and SCUBA diving. I earned my SCUBA license during a semester abroad in Australia, while diving in the Great Barrier Reef. My ski trips have been limited to the continental U.S., but I have skied Killington, Vermont, Winter Park, Colorado, and Blue Mountain, Pennsylvania.
Web/graphic design is one of my indoor hobbies, and I am avid movie watcher.
I was born in Delhi, India but moved to the UK a couple years later. After only a few months, my family moved to Canada. After spending the majority of my elementary school years in Tecumseh, Ontario, my family moved to California for a short term, but finally settled in Wilmington, Delaware. I attended Skyline Middle and John Dickinson High School in Delaware before entering college in Fall 2005.
